Message from Dr. Chung

Dear beloved FHI family and friends in Christ,

I greet you warmly in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is good to write you again.

After receiving a ‘yellow card’ from the doctor after thorough physical examination and cancelling or reducing many of my foreign and domestic schedules, many thoughts entered my mind. However, one thing for sure, I was grateful that God had given me good health over the last seventy years.  Also receiving much intercessory prayers from many concerned was also a blessing.  I am only grateful that God did not rest and continued to work through many who love Him and FHI.

Through KBS program <> on May 15th, our ministry in Mongolia and Malaysia was broadcast to millions of TV watchers in Korea as well as abroad.  On Korean games during the World Cup, staff from KFHI and our welfare facilities went out to the streets to raise funds at Seoul World Cup Stadium, Suwon World Cup Stadium and at COEX where tens of thousands had gathered to celebrate and cheer the Korean soccer players.

The initial itinerary for my trip in June was one month, beginning early June until early July from Seattle, Detroit, New Jersey, Haiti, Dallas and Atlanta.  However, with doctor’s recommendation to halt all long trips abroad, I was planning on staying in Korea, handling only domestic schedules.  However, upon strong request from the organizing committee of AID (Action for International Development), I left for Atlanta from Incheon Airport on June 24th until today where I witnessed God working through His people as vessels of His blessings.  AID Inauguration Ceremony was held June 28th at Marriot Hotel and as many as 230 members participated to celebrate the beginning of AID.

Andrew Young, former congressman, Atlanta mayor, UN Ambassador during Jimmy Carter’s term and former special assistant to Martin Luther King was appointed Chairman, and Pastor Jung In Soo, senior pastor at KCPC (Korean Community Presbyterian Church of Atlanta), one of the largest (3,000 members) and influential Korean churches in the Atlanta was appointed president of AID.  Dr. Victor Yoon, special assistant to Chairman Andrew Young was appointed vice-president and Mr. Richard Yoon, former prosecutor in New York and current lawyer in Atlanta was appointed secretary of AID, a truly trustworthy and strong addition to AID family of total 21 board members from all walks of life, including Professor Seung Ju Baick, theology Ph.D., professor at theology seminary and talented artist.  I am certain that this group of people has the foundational background to begin to reach out with influence to not only the Korean society in the Atlanta, but, the American community as well, including government, companies, foundations and churches to mobilize human and monetary resources for the expansion of God’s Kingdom.

On the 26th, VOC training was held for the board members throughout the day and a shorter training held on 29th in the morning.  This was a good opportunity to share our vision and for the members to understand the essence of Bread and Gospel ministry.  Mr. Richard Yoon, AID secretary confessed he was hesitant about participating; however, after lectures such as KFHI introduction, VOC, Fundraising, Personal Transformation, he was challenged, core beliefs were transformed and his heart committed to Bread and Gospel ministry.  I was grateful when he suggested dispatching a KFHI staff to Atlanta as a staff to support his office work as well as AID ministry.  During our conversation, I was certain that God was at work and that He was working again through fellowship between two people who come together in His name.

During our stay in Atlanta, I also had a 40 minutes interview with local Atlanta Radio Korea and interview with Chosun Ilbo Atlanta where I was able to introduce KFHI to Korean society in Atlanta as well as the meaning and purpose of AID establishment in Atlanta.  Also on 28th before Inauguration Ceremony, a press conference was held with Chairman Andrew Young, Pastor In Soo Jung, Dr. Victor Yoon, and Mr. Oh Jung Kwon.

On the weekend, I was able to deliver God’s message at Korean Community Presbyterian Church of Atlanta and Bethany Presbyterian Church.  We had the opportunity to travel with Mr. Oh Jung Kwon, actor to Atlanta and he shared and spoke his witness with the Korean community everywhere he went, contributing to raising interest and support of AID.

We are so thankful for many pastors, elders, and deacons who welcomed us so warmly into their community, served us with providing every single meals and car rides back and forth from our home.  I would like to deliver my special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Elder Bumin Kim who opened their wonderful home to us during the entire week.

I am sure that AID will be a model to follow for all bread and gospel ministries to be raised in all fifty states in the USA.  May AID be used greatly by God to mobilize human and material resources for missions.

May God bless you with His abundant grace and mercy.

2010. June. 30.

Elder Jung Sup Chung
