Community and Child Development
As our name implies, AFHI focuses on poverty needs that relate to food and nutrition. Our primary emphasis is on long-term development among the extremely poor, recognizing their dignity, creativity and ability to solve their own problems. We focus on:
- Sustainable Food Production, including agricultural training and assistance, agro-forestry, reforestation and land conservation
- Water Resource Development for both drinking and irrigation
- Primary Health Care
- Income Enhancement, including micro-enterprise development and skills training
- Education - formal (literacy, tutoring, teaching) as well as non-formal (technical skills, facilitation)
What We Do
Empowering Indigenous Organizations - working with local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's) and churches
- Child Development Program (CDP) - aims to improve the quality of life of needy children and their families (physically, spiritually, socially, mentally and emotionally).
Advocacy and Information
In collaboration with its International Support Organizations, AFHI seeks to inform people in the more affluent countries about the causes of hunger and poverty.
